Welcoming Stocker on his first visit to India, she said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Austria in 2024, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations, had given a new direction to bilateral ties.

The President said the visit comes soon after the conclusion of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement and expressed confidence that it would provide fresh momentum to trade and investment ties between India and Austria.

She said Austrian companies have opportunities to expand trade and investment in India, particularly in sectors such as semiconductors, green energy and artificial intelligence, and highlighted the scope for enhanced cooperation in science, technology and innovation between the two knowledge-based economies.

Murmu noted that India has one of the world’s largest start-up ecosystems and said the “India-Austria Start-up Bridge,” launched in 2024, is strengthening bilateral cooperation in this area.

The two leaders agreed that the visit would provide momentum to various dimensions of bilateral relations between India and Austria.
