ROURKELA: Continuing its efforts to improve civic amenities, SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has strengthened community infrastructure in peripheral villages and the Steel Township through a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives undertaken during the April–June 2026 quarter, covering education, community welfare, drinking water, healthcare and livelihood promotion.
As part of the initiatives, construction of two additional classrooms at Barkani Primary School in Bisra Block is progressing, while community centres are being built at Birwal in Lathikata Block and at Kadamtola, Udusu in Bisra Block. A newly constructed community centre at Santospur in Bisra Block was also inaugurated during the quarter to facilitate community gatherings, awareness programmes and social activities.
To improve access to drinking water, borewells were installed and commissioned at Lindra, Kadobahal and Jaidega villages, ensuring a reliable source of potable water for local residents.
Development works are also progressing at the Model Steel Village Centre at Baniguni and the Chikatamati Health Centre to strengthen skill development and community welfare initiatives.
The CSR initiatives undertaken during the quarter focused on developing durable community assets and strengthening essential civic infrastructure in peripheral villages as well as within the Steel Township.
