Rourkela: Continuing its focus on overseas markets, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), exported a total of 36,033 tonnes of steel products during the first quarter of the current financial year, led by shipments from its New Plate Mill (NPM).
The NPM exported 26,811 tonnes of plates during the April–June quarter, while HR Coil exports stood at 8,313 tonnes and HR Plate exports at 909 tonnes. In June alone, the mill fulfilled export orders totalling 14,144 tonnes, meeting the quantities specified by overseas customers.
According to the plant, the export performance was supported by a strategy of prioritising export order dispatches and aligning production schedules with confirmed customer orders. Streamlined material flow and logistics also helped improve delivery reliability.
RSP said greater emphasis on direct dispatch routes reduced intermediate handling, lowered turnaround time and minimised the risk of demurrage, contributing to improved operational efficiency while serving both domestic and international customers.
